Step into Crossroads Village and experience life as it was in the small towns scattered across Flint and Genesee County more than 100 years ago. With its 35 historic structures, Villagers, in period dress, welcome visitors, of all ages, into their homes, mills and shops dating back to the 1800s. Follow the wooden walks to the post office, schoolhouse, the General Store, cider mill and Victorian-era homes.

Experience the "modern" way travelers moved across the county, and the country, in the early 1900s during a 40-minute scenic ride on the narrow gauge Huckleberry Railroad. It's an authentic journey back to a time when huckleberries grew alongside the track, and the coaches, with their etched glass and leather seats, offered a bit of elegance for travelers as they rolled through the countryside. Also, pick your pony and hold on tight for a ride on a 1912 Charles W. Parker carousel, which turns 100 years old this season, or take a 45-minute excursion on the beautiful Genesee Belle, a paddlewheel riverboat popular during Mark Twain's time.

Recapture the flavor of the past, in the present, when Crossroads Village celebrates a variety of exciting themed weekends from American Heritage and Family Life to their popular Railfans weekend, when guests get the opportunity to actually tour the Village's Train Shop, which is only open to the public on this weekend.

Crossroads Village and the Huckleberry Railroad is open Wednesday through Sunday, and holidays, May 26 through September 3, 2012 - from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours may fluctuate due to themed weekends. The Village is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, except holidays.

Tremendous changes swept Europe during the two hundred years in which the art in this exhibition was produced. Religious upheavals changed the way people thought about and utilized art. Trade routes to faraway lands like China and India became more established, ensuring a steady stream of exotic goods for European consumers. Advances in the sciences transformed long held views on the way the universe worked and the place of humans within that universe. Technical aspects of art making were honed and codified, as art academies grew in number and power. These exciting times resulted in a golden age of European painting. View this unique and colorful exhibit, from the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Kentucky, as well as "The Epic and the Intimate: French Drawings from the Snite Museum", "Abstract Expressionism: Then and Now" and "Viola E. Bray: A Legacy of Giving." To read more about these exhibition visit flintarts.org.
