Jack Schripsema Named President of the Flint - Genesee County Convention & Visitors Bureau

Flint, MI – Jack Schripsema was named President of the Flint - Genesee County Convention & Visitors Bureau (FACVB), following a decision made by the FACVB Board of Directors on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. According to FACVB Board Chairman Michael J. Thorp, the Board’s search committee conducted an extensive nationwide search to fill the position.  The FACVB Search Committee was chaired by Dr. Jack Helmuth, Dean of Business Management at the University of Michigan-Flint. In his role as President, Schripsema will oversee the day-to-day operations of the bureau, implement policies set by the Board of Directors, and direct the efforts of the FACVB staff.  He started on August 15, 2011.

Schripsema is a 35 year veteran of the Hospitality Industry and is currently the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Traverse City Convention & Visitors Bureau.  Schripsema will head the bureau, which serves the City of Flint and Genesee County. A Michigan native, Schripsema obtained his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University. He is a member of the Michigan Society of Association Executives and an advisory board member of Meetings Michigan.

We had a dedicated committee and a number of wonderful applicants.  Jack will help our members to work collaboratively to increase travel and tourism in Genesee County while promoting a positive image of the community.”
 
The Flint - Genesee County Convention and Visitors Bureau is dedicated to being a positive partner for economic growth and creative promotion of this community.  Schripsema will work to promote current events and festivals while also working to create new ones.
