Vintage Chevrolet Car Club to hold its national meet in Flint area in July

Vintage Chevrolet Club of America’s National Meet: July 17 – 23

1,500 attendees & family members; 650 Vintage Chevrolet cars

 
This national Convention is held every five years and selected Flint because of our strong automotive history and to celebrate Chevrolet’s 100th Anniversary.
 
What can you do to attract these visitors to your business
and make them feel welcome?
  • Provide 750 coupons or promo pieces to be included in ‘Welcome Bags’ that will go to each registered member. Items must be delivered to Flint Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau at 502 Church St. downtown Flint by 8:30 am Wednesday July 13. Volunteers will stuff bags at 9 a.m. Call Mona at 810-232-6715 for details or questions. Office is open from 8 am to 5 pm.
  • If your business has a reader board – add ‘Welcome Vintage Chevrolet Club’ or ‘Welcome VCCA’ for the week. It will make the convention attendees feel welcome and draw them into your place of business.
  • Restaurants in particular will want to prepare their staff for this influx of visitors who will be looking for places to dine for lunch and dinner (most of our hotels include at least a continental breakfast). They have a scheduled banquet on Friday July 22.
  • Greet them on the bricks downtown when Saginaw Street is closed off between Court St. and 2nd Ave for their Vintage Car Show Thursday July 21 6-9 pm. Free and open to the public, including you, your family and your employees.
  • When you see them around town, say hi. You can always elicit a smile with a compliment or as questions about their ‘baby.’
We are excited to host such a large convention and will be targeting more national and regional conventions of this type in the future. Please do what you can to make them feel welcome and excited about our community. Their positive comments about what a good time they had in Flint and how friendly our businesses and residents are will only enhance our ability to attract more conventions.
