Locals win nine awards at Autorama over the weekend

Flint-area exhibit draws crowds, accolades at Detroit custom show

FLINT, Michigan – It was a car pool of resources, promotion and excitement about Flint-area events.

Over the weekend, representatives from Back to the Bricks, Bikes on the Bricks, the Sloan Museum Auto Fair and The Baker College Car and Motorcycle Show joined ranks to promote some of the Flint area’s great summertime events at Autorama in Detroit.

“We really made the most of this opportunity by coming together, sharing resources and presenting a positive message about what this community has to offer,” said Cheryl Defrain, Interim Executive Director of the FACVB. “Thousands of people who may not have heard about our great events received a sneak peek this weekend. We hope to see them again in a few months.”

Autorama annually attracts 150,000 car buffs for its 3-day event.

The five partners reserved adjoining exhibit space at Autorama, re-creating a downtown Flint scene, including a faux brick street, with custom cars and bikes, a scaled-down version of a Flint arch, traffic signals and other elements.

As part of the event, several locals were honored with awards for their respective cars and motorcycles:
